What will the apprentice be doing?
The ACE programme is a structured scheme, combining paid work experience with a qualification suited to your chosen area, lasting for two years in length.
Throughout the apprenticeship you will have the opportunity to learn business skills, develop your professional network, gain practical experience and work on exciting projects with experienced professionals who are dedicated to your development and progression.
The Team
The risk and compliance team is responsible for identifying the risks faced by the firm and advises on how to avoid or address them. This covers a wide range of disciplines including:
- Legal and Regulatory
- Information Security
- Data Protection
- Client Onboarding (in Belfast)
- Programme responsibilities
Legal and Regulatory
Professional Indemnity claims
- Litigation/pre-action protocol support and SRA reviews e.g. disclosure, collating files
- Reviewing and summarising reports
- Organising paper and electronic files
- Helping to maintain claims and insurance registers/bordereau
- Involvement with Fieldfisher insurance (captive insurer)
Risk Management
- Assisting with drafting/re-drafting policies for review
- Helping with communications
- Helping to prepare training e.g. slides, case law
- Keeping team up to date with new cases/guidance/Code of Conduct/SDT decisions
- Liaising with Finance department regarding residual client balances queries
- Managing reports from the Risk portal
- Responsibility for the day to day management of risk registers
Statutory compliance
Audit support
- Cross checking Companies House and SRA records at regular intervals and reporting on differences
Infosec and Data Protection
- Coordination of client audits and supplier audits
- Supporting the DPO on DPA/DSAR reviews
- Ensuring requests are recorded and responded to in time
- Ensuring data is gathered and sent
- Contract review coordination
- Liaising with appropriate teams to provide information and feedback to internal and external stakeholders
- Coordination of audit meetings
- Data management of leaver support
- Coordinating security monitoring reports
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship standard, which includes:
- Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
This will be discussed at interview stage
