Working flexibly across our RIFD team, the apprentice administrator will contribute to the core business of BBSRC by completing a range of administrative activities to support the delivery of BBSRC research funding, including assisting with the administrative support in the Peer Review process and in the area of Fellowship awards.

Responsibilities

Working flexibly across our RIFD team, the apprentice administrator will contribute to the core business of BBSRC by completing a range of administrative activities to support the delivery of BBSRC research funding, including assisting with the administrative support in the Peer Review process and in the area of Fellowship awards. In addition, they will be providing administrative support to the BBSRC Appointments Board and assisting in post awards financial administration. Where necessary they will be providing administrative support for arranging virtual meetings.

The vacancy is supported through the Apprenticeship Programme and applicants should be prepared to undertake and complete an 18-month apprenticeship; the Apprentice will gain a Diploma in Business Administration Level 3.  We aim to provide a well-structured programme that will enable you to develop and utilise your knowledge of Business Administration. 

Activities and Tasks

In this role, activities and tasks the apprentice administrator will undertake will include:

  • Being involved in the processing of grant applications to support the BBSRC peer review process
  • Assisting with the provision of BBSRC Fellowships with the focus on assisting in supporting our current Fellows. Key duties will be around assisting with the 
  • monitoring and mentoring of our Fellows including analysing their career progression
  • Assisting with the administration required for the operation of the Appointments Board Secretariat
  • Being involved with the administrative duties required to be undertaken after the awarding of grant funding, to assist the grant financial management team
  • Managing information in accordance with regulations including the UKRI retention schedule and GDPR including the use of emails, SharePoint and undertaking archiving where required
  • Compiling and distributing physical or electronic meeting papers and other related documentation where necessary
  • Be involved in the organisation of both external and internal virtual meetings as required
  • For a limited number of Grant Funding calls process attendance fee/travel expense claims from staff/the external community and make travel bookings/arrangements for RIFD staff if required to do so

Additional information.

UKRI supports research in areas that include animal health, agriculture and food, security, and bioscience for health which includes research on animals, genetic modification and stem cell research. Whilst you may not have direct involvement in this type of research, you should consider whether this conflicts with your personal values or beliefs

Role specific requirements 

Ability to travel in the UK with occasional overnight absences.

 

 

Qualifications Required

The Apprenticeship is open to those aged 16+, who have at least 5 GCSEs including maths, English and ICT at grade 9 - 4 (A*- C)

Business Administration Level 3 Standard

On the job training will be delivered by the Employer and Apprenticeship delivery will be with New College and will consist of the following elements:

  • Diploma in Business Administration Level 3
