What will the apprentice be doing?
Provide general administration assistance to GP team and practice manager as required. Responsibilities will include preparing medical reports, making reminder letters on the clinical system and dealing with discharge summaries transmitted electronically from the hospitals as well as the following: • Gain a working knowledge of the clinical computer system • Become knowledgeable of medical terminology • Chase up reports to other providers • Become proficient with tasks in the clinical system. • Learn how to code entries as needed • Learn use of scanner and fax machine • Become proficient in the use of NHS email • Typing recall letter • Ad hoc administration duties when required
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Attendance: All assessment and training is undertaken in the workplace. The allocated Assessor will visit every 4 - 6 weeks and be contactable inbetween visits.
On-programme learning: Business Administrator Standard and Diploma for the Business Administrator
End-point assessment: City & Guilds
Progression: Apprentices successfully completing the standard can progress to a higher level management qualification or apprenticeship. Information, advice and guidance will be given on this.
Course Summary: Apprenticeships are work-based training programmes designed around the need of both the Apprentice and their employer. This programme is designed for workers, within a business administration role and gives a firm foundation of organisation operations and functional processes, as well as understanding the wider working environment. You will be able to demonstrate skills relating to information technology, record and document production, decision-making and project management. You will also develop knowledge, which will contribute to the organisations purpose, vision and aims, develop effective cross-departmental relationships internally and with external stakeholder, as well as understanding legislations, regulation and external processes. The apprentice will complete an End point Assessment to demonstrate that they can perform knowledge, skills and behaviours in their occupation.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
There may be the possibility of permanent position within the Admin team once the apprenticeship is completed and the apprentice proves to be successful with their duties.Reality Check
