Job Description

An opportunity has arisen to undertake an apprenticeship within the licensing team at Chelmsford City Council. You will gain practical licensing experience assisting with the detailed administrative processes required for various licensing functions including licensing premises for alcohol sales and taxi licensing.

Responsibilities

The role is an excellent opportunity to acquire practical skills, knowledge and experience supporting licensing officers, getting to understand the regulations and requirements for licensed businesses and dealing with business enquiries. You will have the opportunity to attend committees and support the team in their enforcement work.

You will normally be based at the Civic Centre, Chelmsford, but may be required to work from any other location within the City should circumstances make it necessary.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide business and administrative support to the Licensing team
  • Undertake support work for the team as required, such as attending meeting and producing notes or minutes as required, supporting projects and arranging meetings
  • Assist with the undertaking of inspections of licensed premises and licensed activities
  • Assist in the administration and co-ordination and implementation of projects and initiatives
  • Assist with undertaking research and analysis and monitoring of data and information
  • Assist with the collation of information and for the production of reports
  • Any other duties commensurate with the level of the post
  • Undertake all duties in a timely and professional manner
  • Undertake and complete all training as required to achieve the Business Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship

  • A permanent position may be available for the right candidate at the end of the apprenticeship

Skills Required

  • Basic knowledge of ICT, including Word, Excel, Outlook, email and web browsing

Qualifications Required

  • Must have a good standard of education leading to a good level of literacy and numeracy
  • GCSE’s or equivalent level 9 - 4/ A* - C in English and maths

Training Provided

Business Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship standard:

  • All training will be carried out within the workplace
  • You are not required to attend college
  • You will train towards an advanced level standard
  • Functional Skills if required
  • The employer will train the candidate on the specific job role
