Job Description

An Apprentice Business Support Officer is required to join our busy school office, to provide front line customer service and administrative support. The successful candidate will be working within the school office team and supporting the school to provide routine clerical, administrative, word processing and financial support to the school.

Responsibilities

What will the apprentice be doing?

The apprentice will work with direction to provide general clerical, administrative support and financial administration. Maintaining and updating manual and computerised records, maintain office supplies. Undertake reception duties including answering telephone and responding to routine queries. Undertake general welfare support, including liaison with staff and parents. Work within school policies and procedures, to support the provision of an effective learning environment.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

As part of this role the successful candidate will be expected to work towards and complete the apprenticeship standard, Business Administrator Level 3. The apprentice will be supported with induction and internal on–the–job training in their role. The successful candidate will also be required to complete functional skills initial assessments in Maths, English and ICT. Maths, English and ICT functional skills must be completed as part of the apprenticeship, if prior achievement at GCSE C/4.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

There is no guarantee of a role at the end of this apprenticeship, but support will be given. The apprentice could look for opportunities to progress onto a higher apprenticeship, such as School Business Professional Level 4.
