What will the apprentice be doing?
Our trading & shipping programme is an alternative route into the energy industry for those who don’t intend to go to university. It provides the skills and experiences you need to succeed in our business and the development to help you become a high performing, valued member of the team. As part of the programme you also have the option to study for a Level 3 apprenticeship standard.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
You’ll be placed in various front office roles and be an active member of your team. Senior colleagues will act as line managers and coaches, you’ll enjoy on-the-job training, world-class learning and a mentor to support & guide you.
You'll be involved in a wide range of commercial activity in energy trading. That could see you analysing market data, working with the logistics team or supporting commercial trading.
You'll have the choice to study for a Level 3 Business Associate apprenticeship.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
This is your chance to gain experience across our trading & shipping division on a structured, 2-year foundational programme. This leads to the opportunity to progress onto our 3-year trading & shipping early talent programme, which offers you the opportunity to specialise in one of three tracks: Trading, Analytics or Commercial. Our programmes are designed to equip you with the behavioural and technical skills you need to build a truly outstanding career at bp.
Reality CheckWe believe in hiring people with the right core competencies and interest, rather than specific technical experience. While the apprenticeship qualification is an option on this programme, it is not a requirement. We welcome applicants from a range of academic subject backgrounds.
