Responsibilities
A fantastic opportunity has become available to join a small, well-established independent Painting and Decorating company who specialise in high end properties.
You be working alongside fully trained, qualified, and highly experienced staff who take a pride in their work learning all aspects of the role whilst following a formal Painting and Decorating apprenticeship.
The job role will involve working on private residential properties, studs, and commercial projects such as offices and restaurants.
Responsibilities will include:
- Adhering to Health & Safety
- Working at Heights
- Use of ladders and scaffolding
- Preparation of surfaces
- Washing down surfaces
- Sanding down surfaces
- Filling and priming walls – plasterwork and woodwork
- Undercoating
- Gloss work
- Emulsion work using brush and roller
- Wallpapering
- Paint effects
- Internal painting
- External painting
- General site work
- Keeping the workplace clean and tidy
Future Prospects
A full-time role will be offered upon successful completion of this apprenticeship
Reality Check
Own transport would be an advantage but is not essential, however, you should be able to travel to different areas independently.
The apprenticeship will involve working towards a Level 2 Painting and Decorating apprenticeship which will be delivered at a College on a day release basis, you will also work on site helping you to gain the vital experience needed to become a fully qualified Painter and Decorator.
This is a demanding job role and apprenticeship. Candidates should be able to demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team but also individually, a pro-active approach to your work is required. Some previous painting and decorating experience would be an advantage, this can include work experience, a course or helping out with friends and family.
This apprenticeship will involve working at heights and also inside and outside.
This role is subject to a Drugs & Alcohol test, and successful applicants will be required to acquire a CSCS card.

Qualifications Required
GCSEs at grades D/3 or above (or equivalent) in maths and English.
Training Provided
Level 2 Painter and Decorator apprenticeship standard, which includes:
- Level 1/2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
- End-Point Assessment (EPA)
Training will be delivered by Suffolk New College.
