Job Description

As an Assistant Pensions Consultant Apprentice, you will be working within our Trustee and Governance Services. This role involves variety of pensions client support activities including governance, strategy and management, working in a friendly team.

The role

As an Assistant Pensions Consultant, you will be working within our Trustee and Governance Services.

Our mission is to help our clients manage the complex issues which impact their pension scheme in a pragmatic and understandable way.

This role involves variety of pensions client support activities including governance, strategy and management, working in a team supporting more experienced colleagues. Tasks provided by the team may include, but not be limited to:

  • Assisting / advising pension scheme sponsors and Trustees as subject matter experts, pulling together the many complex and interrelated areas of pensions regulation, strategy, implementation and governance of the scheme
  • Inputting into and setting the agenda for Trustee meetings, working in collaboration with appointed legal advisers, actuaries, investment advisers, auditors and regulatory bodies
  • Assisting in communications to pension scheme members, complaints management, project management and negotiations with sponsoring employers
  • Assisting in the governance of a pension scheme – this may include the maintenance of a risk register, business plan, member nominated trustee election process, dispute resolution process and Trustee knowledge and understanding

By joining XPS you will be involved in a wide variety of work. You’ll be supported by on-the-job training, resulting in you developing your knowledge and abilities quickly.

In addition, we will support you through an apprenticeship scheme to complete the Pension Management Institute (‘PMI’) exams if you wish to.

Qualifications Required

5 GCSEs at grades A*-C/9-4 (or equivalent) including maths and English.

Training Provided

Level 3 Workplace Pensions (Administrator or Consultant) apprenticeship standard.

Full apprenticeship training provided.
