Job Description

Do you have a passion & interest in developing a career in Finance? Are you willing to work towards an Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification, as part of an Apprenticeship, while gaining hands on experience? If so then we have a great opportunity for a number of Finance Apprentices to work within a busy Finance service

Responsibilities

What will the apprentice be doing?

As an Apprentice you will:

  • work alongside experienced staff
  • gain job-specific skills
  • earn a wage and get holiday pay
  • study towards a related qualification

Finance is a highly skilled profession, with staff working at many different levels. We have Apprenticeship pathways within Finance so our Apprentices usually start at level 3 and the progress to level 4 then there is a possibility to continue to level 7 Degree Apprenticeships if criteria is met.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

As part of this Apprenticeship you will be working towards a Accountancy Apprenticeship Standard, the training will take place at work but you will also be required to attend off job training at a local training centre. You may also need to work towards your English and Maths Functional Skills.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

You will be part of Walsall Council Endless Possibilities Apprenticeship programme and will receive information about Progression opportunities within schools and the wider council.  Blended working (working from home, office, study) maybe appropriate for these job roles, this will be discussed at interview stage if you are short-listed.

Reality Check

The selection process will include a basic initial assessment and an interview during which suitability, commitment and interest for the programme will be determined. To be accepted onto the programme the individual will need to achieve literacy and numeracy at the required level.
