Job Description

Leyland Trucks is the UK’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturing business and produces over 18,000 trucks per year from its state-of-the-art facility in Lancashire. During this apprenticeship you will work within a team to gain first hand knowledge of how our trucks are assembled


What will the apprentice be doing?

You will gain first-hand knowledge how our trucks are assembled through the use of just-in-time manufacturing methods, correct tool usage and electronic work instructions. You will gain hands-on experience and an insight into areas including frame assembly, piping and wiring, chassis and cab assembly, and vehicle finish.


What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Working within a team to assemble our vehicles, you will work towards achieving Level 3 Advanced Manufacturing Engineering qualification as part of the Level 3 Engineering Fitter Apprenticeship Standard.

You will attend Preston’s College on a block release basis to complete the above qualfiications.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

You will aquire the skills and knowledge required to become an Assembly Operator.
