What will the apprentice be doing?

We are currently recruiting for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our hugely successful international Air Logistics team based in Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the world’s leading logistics and freight forwarding companies, supporting you to gain an insight into the industry and help you to forge a career in Air Logistics.

  • Your Role 
    The Air Logistics National Trucking team based in Manchester and London Heathrow Airports are providing a UK service to our customers whether collecting and delivering cargo to / from the airport Ground Handling Agents (GHA) for flight departures and arrivals, arranging Special dedicated Transport for urgent Express shipments or booking Temperature Controlled vehicles for Pharmaceutical goods. Every day is busy with customer deadlines to meet but very rewarding and satisfying. Starting in May 2022, our Air Logistics National Trucking Apprenticeship is a 2 year programme, combining practical on-the-job training with study towards the International Freight Forwarding Level 3 apprenticeship. You will work within a successful team while learning everything you need to know whilst supported by your peers, your managers, and the apprenticeship team within Kuehne + Nagel.
  • Your Responsibilities 
    To be committed member of National Transport , working collaboratively with physical operations
    To deliver the shared aim of consistently excellent service delivery for our customers and colleagues
    Truck route planning, volume utilisation, monitoring, customs compliance
    Supplier Management, improving performance, time management
    Supporting our business vertical Sectors eg Pharmaceuticals plus much more.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

International Freight Forwarding Level 3
Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English if required

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

International Freight Forwarding Level 3
Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English if required

Further progression may well be available in other areas within our sector, upon successful completion of the International freight forwarding specialist apprenticeship standard.

Reality Check

Your salary will also reviewed after 12 months and there's a great bonus on offer once you have fully completed your apprenticeship. You will be supported throughout by a network of mentors, line managers and previous apprentices to help you achieve your qualifications and progress along your apprenticeship journey.
