Job Description

To provide the highest levels of stock management to the Company standards within the service specification. To ensure that all aspects of the warehouse are maintained in a clean, orderly and efficient manner that complies with the company's health & safety policy.


As the Apprentice Warehouse / Cleaning Operative your roles and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Scanning returned equipment into the correct area prior to cleaning
  • Ensuring all stock control processes are followed at all times and all items are in the correct location
  • Booking new stock in and barcode appropriately
  • Photographing non-stock equipment and competently adding them to the online catalogue with correct description
  • Segregate items for cleaning. NB some items may be heavily soiled
  • Decontaminate thoroughly, using agreed processes and appropriate cleaning equipment including jet wash, steam cleaner
  • Check the item can be returned to shelf in clean and fit for purpose condition
  • Occasional visits to clients’ houses and assisting in delivery and collection of equipment
  • Follow the company’s guidelines for dealing with scrap equipment disposal and to carefully follow the health and safety guidelines regarding the control of hazardous substances
  • Adhering stringently to Medequip processes regarding stock accountability
  • Unloading delivery vehicles in a safe and competent manner
  • Use of a scanner to move stock and pick items of equipment for deliveries
  • Maintain high standard of housekeeping in the Warehouse at all times
  • Undertake risk assessments on activities relating to themselves, modifications and fabrications prior to undertaking any work/duties, and should they believe that there be a risk of injury to any person then they should seek further instruction – at all costs clients should not be put at risk
  • Ensuring a high standard of personal hygiene and appearance and general cleanliness to comply with statutory and Company regulations, wearing company uniform and PPE as specified

Reality Check

21 days + bank holidays increasing by one day per year to 25 after 4 years’ service.

Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

Skills Required

  • Minimum of 1 year in a Public, Healthcare or serviced based industry role
  • Demonstrably safe driving.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and have been driving for minimum of 3 years and maximum of 3 points.
  • Ability to navigate and drive a big van
  • Excellent verbal and customer service skills
  • IT literate and comfortable using devices
  • Physically capable due to the nature of the work, as heavy lifting and a lot of manual handling is involved

Qualities Required

  • Smart, clean appearance and polite manner
  • Able to show empathy, patience and remain calm, adopt a positive attitude to difficult situations and working under pressure
  • Being organised and able to follow agreed processes
  • Ability to manage own workload and work unsupervised
  • Flexibility

Qualifications Required

  • GCSE's grade 4/C or above or equivalent in English and maths are preferred but not essential
