Duties include:

  • Deal with all retail and trade counter customer purchases and enquires relating to the business (face to face & phone)
  • Maintain and build relationships with customers offer alternatives or when possible promote new items, upselling and continually update your knowledge of products
  • General housekeeping of department/branch to ensure all products are adequately stocked in a clear and presentable manner and priced.  General housekeeping of premises—floors/toilets/bins. Cash handling, operation of centre till and computers (eg: Checking emails etc)
  • Work within other departments as requested to meet customers demands including cover for the yard operations as and when requested 
  • Participate in company stock take ensuring an accurate count of all stock
  • Ensure compliance with all regular legal requirements and health & safety
  • Checking in of deliveries that they correspond with the suppliers paperwork (and informing manager/office of any discrepancies or damages)
  • Being on time (opening and closing) and reliable
  • Waste– ensuring all waste is placed in appropriate containers
  • Requests must be approved before undertaking minor repairs and decorating
  • Making sure all paperwork is fully and correctly completed
  • Carrying out any Health & Safety checks that have been assigned to you thoroughly and with the or at the time stated. Make workplace safe place to be. (do not work past a problem—take action)
  • Read—the staff handbook and adhere to its contents
  • To use any equipment properly without making any alterations
  • To inform manager of anything that you feel is unsafe
  • Any other tasks required to ensure the efficient operation of the department and requested by the manager
