Job Description

As an Apprentice Technician, you will play an integral and important part within the Building & Built Environment Structures team. You will provide support to team leaders and other senior team members for a wide variety of exciting projects across all sectors ranging from mixed-use high-rise developments to huge distribution warehouses.

Responsibilities

What will the apprentice be doing?

You will gain valuable knowledge of the various techniques and methods used to design, build and maintain structural engineering projects on time and on budget. Through our apprenticeship programme, you will acquire knowledge of appropriate technical and engineering principles relating to the design, delivery and maintenance of infrastructure and buildings.  You will learn knowledge of time management, communication skills, and effective team working.

As an Apprentice Technician you will learn and develop your skills in CAD and BIM to select and use appropriate scientific, technical, and engineering principles, techniques and methods to contribute to the design and delivery of infrastructure and building projects.

You will comply to safe working practices and be able to identify hazards and assess risks.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

BTEC level 3 national diploma in civil engineering.

Functional skills level 2 in English and maths as required.

End point assessment.

You will attend Solihull College & University Centre (Solihull site) one day a week during term time.

You will also be visited by a coach at your place of work every 8 weeks.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Upon completion of the apprenticeship there are progression opportunities on to HNC / HND / degree apprenticeship courses. Full support is offered by internal learning and development to assist with this.
