Job Description

The IT Apprentice reports to the Director. He/she will primarily be involved in maintaining and supporting networks for clients who have service contracts with the company. Day to day management will be via the Lead support Engineer.


The candidate will be required to undertake the following specific tasks:

Main responsibilities:

  • First line support - answering telephone and online enquiries, tracking and resolving issues via Helpdesk system
  • Assist in maintaining all aspects of Modalit - supported networks
  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolving problems that arise at Modalit-supported sites
  • Undertake various housekeeping and reporting functions, maintaining network documentation and compiling this into periodic reports for clients
  • Assist in the timely delivery of a regular service program for some of Modalit’s contract clients
  • Test and document new products and/or configurations in a non-production environment
  • Install and upgrade hardware and software
  • Assist with compiling data, producing reports and other information aimed at meeting client’s current and future network requirements
  • Assist as required with other tasks related to the efficient running of the business

  • To be eligible for a Government funded apprenticeship you must have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 consecutive years

Qualifications Required

  • 5 GCSE’s, grades A*-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English Language and maths) 

Training Provided

  • Level 3 Infrastructure Technician Apprenticeship Standard
  • Functional Skills in maths and English if required

Approximately 11% of training takes place in the QA learning centre classroom. 9% is done in the workplace, through online training, face-to-face meetings with your QA Technical Skills Coach, or developing your portfolio. The remaining time will be spent on your workplace activity.
