Responsibilities
What will the apprentice be doing?
As an Apprentice Sheet Metal Engineer, you will be trained in the following processes within our business and onsite training facility:
- CNC Punch and Laser Cutting
- CAD
- MIG & TIG Welding
- Inserting and Bushing
- Drilling and Tapping
- Linishing of products
All competency training takes place within our dedicated Apprentice Training Workshop, and academic training within our Training Centre.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
For the first 6 months, a standard week would be:
3 days a wk - dedicated off the job training in our training workshop
1 day a wk - academic training in our training centre
1 day a wk - rotational training program in our manufacturing facility.
Following the initial 6 months, you will move into the factory on a rotational on the job training for 4 days per week.
Upon completion the apprentice will achieve an Intermediate Apprenticeship as and Engineering Operative
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Upon successful completion of the Level 2 Apprenticeship, you will be offered the opportunity to progress to a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship.
We also offer the opportunity to continue onto further education and complete a degree apprenticeship in mechanical engineering, this will be completed with Staffordshire university whilst working full time at KMF. Career opportunities at KMF are throughout our whole business, ranging from business development, programming to department leaders.
