What will the apprentice be doing?
The role and duties will include:
-Being involved in all areas of the dispensing process for prescriptions -Talking to patients both in person and on the telephone
-Provision of simple advice and information on self-care to those that request it
-Preparation of compliance aids (dossette box) for patients on this scheme
-Involvement in various services provided by the pharmacy (needle exchange, methadone service, medication delivery service, flu jab service, asylum seeker minor ailments scheme, etc.)
-Serving patients in the shop and operating the till
-General cleaning and tidying, and being a valued member of the pharmacy team.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- Retail Level 2 Apprenticeship + 2 GPhC Accredited Courses delivered by the National Pharmacy Association (NPA) Medicines Counter Assistant and Accredited Dispensing Assistant Course.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
- Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship and assuming positive progress reviews and reports, we intend to extend an offer of permanent employment.
