Job Description

Excellent role for the enthusiastic and confident person, having a caring and supportive manner to provide a point of contact for patients and act as a focal point for communication between, patients, Doctors and other staff; also providing high quality administration services to the surgery and able to maintain confidentiality with discretion.

Responsibilities

Main purpose of job:

  • To provide a point of contact for patients and act as a focal point for communication between, patients, Doctors and other medical staff
  • To provide high quality administration services to the patients, Doctors and staff at the surgery in a caring and supportive manner
  • To maintain confidentiality of all information

Specific objectives/aims:

  • The post holder will be able to work as part of a team, following practice protocols
  • Be courteous and patient and enjoy working with colleagues and patients
  •  Work with supervision on all aspects of the practices admin function

Main duties and responsibilities of the post:

  • Answering general enquiries, explaining surgery procedures, making new and follow-up appointments
  • Receive and convey messages verbally and electronically
  • Process Accident & Emergency Dept discharge reports
  • Scanning letters/documents to patient records

Other duties:

  • Process medical records for deduction
  • Office filing

General:

  • The post holder will be expected to maintain strict confidentiality at all times and be aware of Caldicott principles
  • The post holder will be expected to familiarise themselves with the health and safety poster of the practice and maintain the responsibilities outlined
  • The post holder will be expected to remain abreast of current evidence based practice and make use of the learning opportunities offered
