Job Description

A career development opportunity for the ambitious and driven individual with some previous experience and level 3 accreditation in the construction-built environment. You will assist and support the Senior Estimator / QS Team in securing targeted construction contracts and in the delivery of secured projects within agreed budgets.


Reports to: Senior Estimator / QS (Projects Division).

Responsibilities will include:

Assisting the Senior Estimators / Quantity Surveyors to:

  • Prepare estimates and cost plans for refurbishment and conversion projects ranging from £100k to £2.5million, including the measurement and quantifying of all necessary works
  • Procure all necessary resources for delivery of secured projects, ensuring that costs are controlled within budgets
  • Prepare main contract valuations and final accounts
  • Manage changes and variations to the main contract and to subcontracts
  • Agree and certify interim valuations and final accounts with subcontractors and consultants including the resolution of and contractual claims
  • Maintain financial controls and monitor costs of projects against budget
  • Produce project financial reports for incorporation into the company’s management accounts
  • Collate and issue project documentation to form subcontract enquiries and contracts
  • Maintain project records and files
  • Process subcontract and purchase invoices for payment

Qualifications Required

Level 3 qualification in Construction and Built Environment (or equivalent).

GCSEs at grades C/4 or above (or equivalent) in maths and English.

Training Provided

Level 4 Construction Quantity Surveying Technician apprenticeship standard, which includes:

  • Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
  • End-Point Assessment (EPA)
  • 1 day at college – City Campus per week in term-time
