Responsibilities
The role of apprentice surveyor will evolve as experience is gained.
Initially you'll be helping the other surveyors with project related tasks such as:
- Shadowing in project team meetings and sub- contract meetings
- Visiting site
- Processing payments
- Agreeing and raising variations for drawing changes
- Chasing tender returns
- Reviewing and placing sub-contract orders
Future Prospects
- The successful candidate will undertake their degree course with ARU while working with Abbey. We would look for levels of responsibility in the work place to increase as knowledge is gained and, in time, for the candidate to be running their own sites from point of issuing drawings, the negotiation of subcontract packages through to payments, monthly cost reporting and agreeing variations as a valuable part of our team
Skills Required
- Good communication skills
- Eager to learn and work as part of a team
- Be happy to travel to visit sites when required
- Good IT knowledge
- Full UK driving licence and own transport
Qualities Required
- The successful candidate will be smartly presented for an office environment and punctual. They will also be confident enough to ask questions and ask for guidance when needed
Qualifications Required
- 112 UCAS Tariff points (BBC at A level or equivalent) preferably in maths or Technical Subjects
- 4 GCSEs at C/4 or above to include English and maths(or equivalent)
Training Provided
Construction Quantity Surveying Technician Higher Apprenticeship Standard:
- The successful candidate will undertake a Construction Quantity Surveying programme with our training partner ARU (Anglia Ruskin University) successful completion of which will lead to BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying Degree
