Responsibilities
Commercial assistance
- To assist the QS with commercial administration and management on several live projects or projects at pre-construction phase
- To measure all works accurately
- Assist QS department in the preparation of final accounts
- Assist in Sub-contract procurement and commercial management
- Management and control of sub-contract accounts and variation accounts
- Change management control
- General day to day administrative duties
- Preparation of documentation and the like for valuation, procurement or commercial administration
- Assisting and liaising with the buyers on materials procurement and buying opportunities
- To support the QS in the management the day to day cost control, monitoring and reporting
- Maximise value and minimise cost
- Develop an understanding of the designated contract, specification and pricing ensuring compliance with conditions throughout
- Assist the QS with subcontractor selection and ensure the chosen subcontractor has the appropriate order and information to carry out their work
- Measure progress, assist in submitting valuations, final accounts and retention release and monitor receipt of payment in a timely manner
- Attend project and company related meetings
- To communicate with all staff, clients, consultants and residents in a professional manner
SHEQ
- Sufficiently manage the financial aspects of the project to ensure the correct safety equipment is always used
- Be responsible for your safety and others around you

Skills Required
- Financial and commercial awareness
- Effectively manages time in order to meet deadlines
- Proficiency in MS office (Word & Excel)
- Full UK Driving License (desirable but not essential)
- Excellent organisational and planning skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to form partnerships
Qualities Required
- Ability to show team commitment along with a professional attitude to work
- Can demonstrate an eye for detail and a commitment to delivery excellent standards
- Knowledge of building legislation and health and safety legislation
- No previous construction experience is required but a passion for the industry must be demonstrated
Qualifications Required
- A Level DD or;
- BTEC National Diploma PPP or;
- Access to HE Diploma with 21 Merits or;
- Level 3 Apprenticeship in related subject or;
- Equivalent level 3 qualifications worth 64 UCAS points
- 5 GCSE’s including Maths and English (C or above) or equivalent (reformed GCSEs grade 4 or above)
Training Provided
Apprentices take six modules in total and three modules of study per year.
Most modules are taught across two semesters. Assessment occurs at the scheduled assessment dates at the end of each semester. All modules are at Level 4.
