Job Description

At HARTING Manufacturing the Apprentice Project Engineer will work within the New Product Introduction team, reporting to the Quoting & NPI Manager. You will support Project Engineers and the Project Managers in securing delivery dates, quantity & quality of our developed solutions.


HARTING Manufacturing predominantly manufactures industrial cable assemblies for markets such as rail, factory automation, energy etc.


  • Maintain project records and work within the Project Tracker system and within defined procedures of an IS09001/IRIS accredited site 
  • Supporting Project Engineers and Project Managers in securing the agreed delivery dates, quantity and quality of the developed solutions
  • Use CAD skills to create drawings (based on predefined BOMs) using Siemens Nx
  • Develop technical knowledge of HARTING products and production processes
  • Log new enquiries coming into the business
  • Maintain project records and work within the Project Tracker system
  • Shadowing different departments to get a wider understanding of business functions
  • Provide assistance to other members of the NPI/Design team as required
  • Setting up Bills of Materials and Routings in SAP for new projects
  • Develop technical knowledge of HARTING products in line with market trends and developments
  • Develop technical knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures for customised assembly builds
  • General administration duties

Qualifications Required

GCSE Standard Level 4 / C or above (or equivalent) including English, maths and a science subject.


  • ‘A’ Level qualification or equivalent in a Technical / Science subject

Training Provided

  • Level 3 Engineering Technician
  • Training with Milton Keynes College
  • Ongoing training, support and development with the employer

All apprentices will be required to achieve as a minimum:

  • An employer approved Level 2 Foundation Competence qualification
  • An employer approved Level 3 Development Competence qualification
  • An employer approved Level 3 Development Technical Knowledge qualification
  • Apprentices without Level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking end point assessment
