Job Description

FSM is a small to medium sized business based in Haverhill and has been trading for over 40 years. The business operates from 15,000 square foot premises. FSM are specialists in sheet metal fabrication, security doors & access control products along with a whole host of products for various industries that are made from sheet metal or tube.


What will the apprentice be doing?

Assisting welders & learning how to Mig/Tig weld various materials, learning how to clean these items to customers’ requirements. Assisting laser operator  Assisting punch operator  Assisting press operator  Assisting machine shop drilling, tapping, countersinking, milling, turning inserting & sawing  Assisting security door team to assemble, wrap & pack Assist security department with engraving, stud welding & various assembly duties

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

General Welder Level 2

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

The potential of a full-time role for the right candidate. Benefits include company pension, 20 days holiday in the 1st year and 25 days in the following years (plus bank holidays), death in service and a sick pay policy. Overtime could be available and would be paid at time and a half.

Reality Check

Benefits: Structured training plan, training across most areas of the factory floor, primary focus on welding, clean, safe and organised working environment, support from team-leader and operations manager. Challenges: Working to deadlines and need to be proactive. The job can be quite physical and bending and lifting will be required.
