The Royal Naval Club have an opportunity for a keen chef to join their busy kitchen team as an Apprentice Chef and learn a trade alongside working to gain a Level 2 Production Chef qualification.

Responsibilities

The Royal Naval Club welcome members whether or not they have naval experience or an interest in sailing, membership of the Club affords a huge range of benefits and opportunities, including fine dining, sailing privileges, special events and an array of reciprocal clubs all over the world.

The Royal Naval Club have an opportunity for a keen chef to join their busy kitchen team as an apprentice. Learn a trade alongside working to gain a Level 2 Production Chef Qualification.

Working an average of a 40 hour week with two days off assisting with food preparation, cooking and presentation of a varied menu selection including weddings, VIP Dinners and various Black Tie dinners throughout the year, working to a high standard and also helping keep the kitchen a clean and pleasant to work in environment.

No day is the same or repetitive and you will be expected to assist in all forms of legislation regarding the kitchen which will be taught by our two in house Chefs.

Duties will include:

  • Ingredient preparation
  • Cooking meals through various different cooking methods
  • Plating up and presentation of food
  • Taking instruction from senior chefs
  • Cleaning and clearing down workstations
  • Working in a safe manner at all times
  • Portion control

 

Future Prospects

Future prospects are good on completion of the Apprenticeship if the candidate is successful then they can progress quite quickly enjoying a good working environment and excellent job satisfaction.

  • Basic background knowledge of what's expected in a kitchen environment
  • Ability to be able to be active for long hours
  • Ability to work quickly and cleanly
  • Good communicator

Qualities Required

  • Excellent timekeeping
  • The desire to achieve all elements of the Apprenticeship

Qualifications Required

Good standard of maths and English required in a kitchen environment - this will be assessed as part of the interview process.
