Job Description

If you enjoy being busy and have the energy and flexibility to deal with a wide variety of situations, you’ll be ideally suited to this role. Apprentice Power Technicians work on a wide variety of plant and equipment found throughout the engineering industry. It’s a vital role as the work you’ll be carrying out is critical to the entire network.


Duties include:

  • Work on wide variety of engineering plant equipment
  • Maintain a wide variety of engineering equipment
  • Take responsibility for maintaining equipment within telephone exchanges
  • Take responsibility for maintaining data centre equipment

  • Ability to assimilate into a permanent role with the BT Group on completion of the apprenticeship

Qualifications Required

  • You’ll need to achieve a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades 4–9 (GCSE C or above) including English Language and maths, or equivalent qualifications
  • However, your maths GCSE MUST BE at grade 6 (B or above)
  • You’ll also need a full driving licence with no more than six points
  • Please note: All of our apprentice schemes are subject to eligibility criteria

Training Provided

  • Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician Level 3 Standard
  • Functional Skills in maths and English if required
