Responsibilities

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Have a full understanding of the entire internal payroll process
  • Checking, processing & uploading in excess of 20 payrolls into Sage Payroll software
  • Processing new information each week, including holiday requests, new employees, any absence for sick pay
  • Ensuring payments to individuals meet National Minimum Wage requirements
  • Closing off each payroll and uploading all payments to the bank for authorisation
  • Provide management with reports/data from latest payroll
  • Process leavers and send P45s
  • Update tax codes as per advice from HMRC
  • Understanding of all client pay/charge rates and bandings
  • Respond to all branch/carer queries timely and ensuring the mailbox is kept filed & clear
  • Submit pension data timely, ensuring full accuracy before submission
  • Process any rollbacks where payrolls have been processed incorrectly

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Maintaining a high level of customer service at all times
  • Laminating & binding of printed stationery
  • Knowing how to set up new clients with rate cards, Direct Debits & link to accounting software
  • Supply teams with any timesheets submitted through our website
  • Periodically complete National Statistics Surveys
  • Sending remittances to suppliers as needed
  • Checking of some invoicing & providing breakdowns to client payments
  • Compiling list of queries from above checking & sending to relevant branches
  • Sending reference requests to branches and following through to completion
  • Be able to run a branch payroll to point of submission to Head Office if required

Future Prospects

This role is temporary for the duration of the apprenticeship. However, if you complete the apprenticeship successfully within the specified guidelines you will be offered the opportunity to apply for a full time position.

The successful candidate will be in enrolled onto a L3 Business Administration Apprenticeship Standard.

Apprenticeship standards are aimed at developing skills within the Apprentices chosen career route, each standard has set knowledge, skills and behaviours required to be successful within the job role. This will include the completion of functional skills in Maths and English. Once the apprentice has completed a minimum of 12 months training and the employer and Babcock regional trainer confirm they have met all the requirements of the standard they will be put through to end point assessment. The end point assessment is independent from the training and includes a variety of assessment methods which test the skills and knowledge of the apprentice to ensure they are fully competent in their role. Each Apprentice will be supported throughout the apprenticeship by a structured programme of teaching, e-learning, face to face training and workplace mentoring; this will encourage and help them to meet the requirements of the new standards and will prepare them for the end of point assessment.
