Job Description

An exciting opportunity to join one of the largest national law firms in the UK. You will be supporting the Cambridge Court of Protection Team. For the right person, there is the opportunity to secure full time employment and progress to higher level qualifications.

Responsibilities

Your main responsibilities within the department will include the following:

  • As well as being the point of contact for your own clients and therefore need to have excellent communication skills
  • You will undertake jobs such as setting up utilities insurance purchasing equipment paying invoices dealing with employee payroll checking bank statements accuracy and general management of budgets
  • You will need to become familiar with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and will work with clients who may have suffered brain injury as a resultof medical negligence or accidents
  • Communicating with clients, other firms of solicitors and third parties by telephone or in writing including taking basic client instructions and providing case updates when appropriate
  • Achieve time recording and fee income targets to ensure profitable working
  • Ensuring compliance with the firms policies and procedures
  • Attending appropriate training events as and when required
  • Conducting Legal Research as requested by members of the team
  • Completing relevant administration duties including photocopying, scanning documents, amending documentation, filing, archiving andfile maintenance

Reality Check

  • Assessment Events are earmarked to take place mid – late May
  • You will have a small caseload of Trust clients as well as a sub-team so you can become familiar with your own and solicitor team’s clients
  • With a large percentage of our clients being referred by our Personal Injury (PI) and medical negligence teams, we often manage large medical negligence or PI damages awards in order to meet the client’s needs
  • The closing date is 30th April 2021 and we reserve the right to close the advert earlier should we receive an unprecedented number of applications

Skills Required

Qualifications Required

  • 5 GCSEs at grades 9-4 (A*-C), including mathematics and English
  • 3 A levels at grade A - C (excluding General Studies)

Training Provided

  • Paralegal Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard
  • Functional Skills Level 2 in maths, English and ICT
