37.5 hours per week To meet the needs of our various customers hours are scheduled on a rota basis produced a minimum of two weeks in advance and include evening and/or weekend work. Working hours are annualised so may vary weekly, but a cap is in place to manage this.

Job Description

Join our friendly New Forest based Outdoor Learning team at Avon Tyrrell - No experience necessary. Perfect for individuals that love outdoor sports and want to share their passion, and/or individuals looking for a practical hands on role and inspiring others. Every day you will be making a difference, helping young people create lasting memories.


What will the apprentice be doing?

Avon Tyrrell a busy established outdoor centre in the New Forest.  After a period of internal and external training you will be able to deliver a variety of inspirational, safe, high-quality outdoor learning sessions from climbing and canoeing to bushcraft and environmental education to a wide range of groups and individuals.

No experience is required but candidates should enjoy meeting new people, be able to communicate effectively and be prepared to work inside and out in all weathers.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Training is provided on site and in addition to your Level 3 Outdoor Activity Instructor apprenitceship qualification, you will also receive a minimum of 3 external NGB qualifications.

In additional to external support from our training provicder all our apprentices also have a designated internal mentor to support you with your learning and technical training. 

A basic apprentice starter pack is also provided and includes staff uniform and a small technical equipment budget.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

We believe in equipping you for a career in the industry which is why in addition to the site specific qualifications you receive we include a range of NGB qualifications as part of your training plan.

Many of our apprentices choose to stay on with us after their apprenticeship, positions are subject to operational capacity.

Reality Check

Individuals should be willing to work outdoors in all weathers and have an interest in outdoor learning or inspiring young people to thrive. Whilst no experiencing is needed candidates should demonstrate good communication skills and plenty of enthusiasm as well as be willing to learn.
