Job Description

We are looking to take on an Apprentice Nursery Assistant whose role will involve the care, education and supervision of the children mainly from age of 30 months rising to 5 years old.

Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Work under the direction of the Early Years Coordinator
  • Set up the room with resources
  • Welcoming children into the room
  • Help children with breakfast
  • Supervise children as other staff open gate for children arriving and leaving
  • Engage in activities with children, inside and outside
  • Help with providing snacks and lunch
  • General housekeeping and cleaning duties - maintaining a cleaning routine to meet Covid-19 guidelines
  • Support with observations and photographs of activities as requested
  • Various other tasks during children's play include such as notifying staff of accidents supporting children's emotions

Future Prospects

Upon completion of the 14-month apprenticeship program, depending on performance and availability, you may be offered a full-time role with Nursery and a chance to train to a higher-level.

Reality Check

The successful candidate will undertake in-house and staff development training as well as having an 8-week probation period.

Qualifications Required

  • Ideally candidates will have GCSEs at grades C/4 or above (or equivalent) in maths and English
  • Previous childcare experience or qualifications are preferable but not a necessity

Training Provided

Level 2 Early Years Practitioner apprenticeship standard, which includes:

  • Level 1/2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
  • End-Point Assessment (EPA)
