Job Description

Mechatronics Maintenance Technicians ensure that plant and equipment perform to the required standard to facilitate production targets regarding Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost. You will work towards a Level 3 Engineering Technician apprenticeship standard.

Responsibilities

You will work in one of Unilever’s factories, alongside a multidisciplinary team who are responsible for optimising the running and maintenance of equipment.

Mechatronics Maintenance Technicians ensure that plant and equipment perform to the required standard to facilitate production targets regarding Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.

Typically, work involves a broad range of activities including:

  • Installation
  • Testing
  • Fault finding and ongoing planned maintenance

This requires the application of a complex blend of skills, knowledge, and behaviours across a variety of disciplines.

Completion of this apprenticeship is just the start of your career and can open the door to many more opportunities, such as Engineering Management and Project Engineering positions across a range of sectors.

Reality Check

During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial 23-week block of study. This will require you to stay away from home in University accommodation.

One Friday per month you will return to your workplace.

After the initial 23 weeks block you will be required to attend the AMRC Training Centre for 1 day each month for a full day of classroom teaching.

Qualifications Required

A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C/9-5 (or equivalent) including mathematics, English and science, technology, or engineering-related subject.

Applicants are also required to successfully pass assessment before being offered an apprenticeship.

Training Provided

Level 3 Engineering Technician apprenticeship standard, which includes:

  • Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
  • End-Point Assessment (EPA)
