Apprentice Machine Assistant based in Altham West, Accrington


Working on two machines, one is the panel saw. will get full sheets of boarding to be cut down to size. Once it is cut down to size it will be sent to another machine called the edgebander machine. Both machines require two people to operate, so will be working with a mentor to train up to be a machinist.
Taking delivery of the sheets every morning to work with, working alongside the machinist to maintain the working environment and adhere to health and safety procedures within the company at all times.
Will be trained to be a machinist which is a highly skilled and well paid role. Will also be trained to work out job sheets, what size to cut etc
Will also be trained on some bench work;

  • Responsible for pre assembled furniture or units for the fitters or installers, to collect the following day
  • Collect products that have been pre cut and working from the job sheet
  • Drill the Cani eats together and make chests
  • Learn to use routing machines
  • Drilling hinge holes
  • Making quality checks
