What will the apprentice be doing?
The role of the Leisure Team Member is to support and deliver the day to day operations and services of a leisure / fitness facility acting as a gym instructor and group activity leader.
It is their responsibility to undertake a range of operational duties such as assisting with the opening and closing of the building, doing routine maintenance of equipment and maintain the cleanliness and safety of the environment.
You will work towards attaining certification in Level 2 Fitness Instructing, National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ), learn how to deliver first aid to casualties and assist in managing incidents and have the general knowledge of leisure centre operations and activities.
You will need to be customer focussed with excellent communication skills, with an enthusiastic approach and give a positive and professional image at all times.

Level 2 Leisure Team Member Apprenticeship Standard
- Level 3 Certificate in First Aid
- Level 2 Award in Pool Lifeguarding
- Level 2 Certificate in Teaching Swimming
- Level 2 Certificate in Fitness or Gym Instruction
Functional Skills at Level 2 in Maths & English if required.
The apprenticeship training will be delivered in the workplace, no college attendance.

At the end of the apprenticeship, you will be able to demonstrate the specific qualifications, knowledge and skills required for this role.
