The Apprentice Parts Technician co-ordinates parts sales to ensure that customers are always able to have the parts they require when they need them. This involves using the company’s sophisticated computer system to log stock movements and produce orders.
Liaising with colleagues, developing skills to improve parts sales performance, and dealing with enquiries from both trade and retail customers.
Your advanced apprenticeship will last approximately 2 years.
No formal qualifications are required but you must be literate and numerate. Modern logistic support processes and systems are highly complex, and you must have a desire to become a first-rate Parts Advisor. You should also be prepared to learn maths, English, and ICT, with a specific emphasis on the industry.
Duties will include:
- Using the company’s sophisticated computer system to log stock movements and produce orders
- Liaising with colleagues and customers
- Developing skills to improve parts sales performance and dealing with enquiries from both trade and retail customers
A competent Parts Technician has many transferable skills, and it is not uncommon to progress within the company.
As a fully qualified John Deere Parts Technician, you will have access to further development opportunities within the company.

This is a demanding role, requiring focus and the ability to deal with a variety of people.
You will be expected to work Saturday’s on a rota basis.
You should be:
- Computer literate
- Well organised
- Able to deal with different types of customers
You should be:
- Good listener
- Team player
- Willing to study hard
Ideally you will be have or be predicted good GCSEs (or equivalent) in English, maths, and Science (or equivalent qualifications) although these are not essential. You must however be literate and numerate.
- Advanced Vehicle Parts framework
- Functional skills in maths and English (if required)
With mentoring, support and monitoring whilst at work, combined with residential training at the John Deere Training Centre, you will gain the knowledge and skills required to achieve the qualification.
Please Note: Off the job training is on a residential basis. Apprentices stay at the Park Inn Hotel, Nottingham. All travel, and, accommodation costs are covered by the employer.
