Your apprenticeship teaches you how to manage John Deere’s sophisticated parts systems, run a profitable retail environment, merchandise goods effectively, and understand the value of John Deere products and the importance of selling on quality rather than on price.

The Apprentice Parts Technician co-ordinates parts sales to ensure that customers are always able to have the parts they require when they need them. This involves using the company’s sophisticated computer system to log stock movements and produce orders.

Liaising with colleagues, developing skills to improve parts sales performance, and dealing with enquiries from both trade and retail customers.

Your advanced apprenticeship will last approximately 2 years.

No formal qualifications are required but you must be literate and numerate. Modern logistic support processes and systems are highly complex, and you must have a desire to become a first-rate Parts Advisor. You should also be prepared to learn maths, English, and ICT, with a specific emphasis on the industry.

Duties will include:

  • Using the company’s sophisticated computer system to log stock movements and produce orders
  • Liaising with colleagues and customers
  • Developing skills to improve parts sales performance and dealing with enquiries from both trade and retail customers

A competent Parts Technician has many transferable skills, and it is not uncommon to progress within the company.

Qualifications Required

Ideally you will be have or be predicted to have good GCSEs (or equivalent) in English, maths, and Science (or equivalent qualifications) although these are not essential. You must however be literate and numerate.

  • Level 2 Retailer Standard 
  • Functional Skills in English, maths and ICT at Level 2
