Job Description

We are looking for someone who is passionate about gardening and growing plants from seed. We deal with many new products before they are launched into the marketplace and no two days are ever the same.

Responsibilities

An apprentice horticultural assistant will be required to carry out the following duties whilst being trained:

  • Raise plants from seed and cuttings
  • Provide appropriate care during the plants' lives
  • Keep accurate records
  • Watering, weeding and feeding

Future Prospects

A pay review will take place once three full months have been completed. A permanent full-time position may be available at the end of the apprenticeship.

Reality Check

Even when it's raining you will be expected to be outside, although every effort will be made to reduce the time spent out in extreme weather conditions. Some of the jobs can be boring and repetitive but must be completed to a high standard. A good attitude to learning is vital.

Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week). For more information please visit: https://www.gov.uk/national-minimum-wage-rates
