Responsibilities
What will the apprentice be doing?
- Apprentice Hairdresser will start with assisting and observing the lead stylist while they perform their duties
- They will be gradually trained to provide wash and blow-dries, hair treatments, hair colour, haircuts and hair extension
- Over time, they will provide various hairdressing services to customers based on their needs and preferences
- Apprentice Hairdressers will be trained to shampoo and condition hair, cut hair using a range of techniques, style and finish hair to create variety of looks, and colour and lighten hair
- They will also be trained to work with all hair types ranging from straight hair to very curly, wiry hair
- They will engage with customers and carry out consultations
Responsibilities include :
- Salon opening and closing tasks
- Assisting senior hairdresser
- Performing hairdressing services, including shampoo and condition hair, cut hair using a range of techniques, style and finish hair to create variety of looks, and colour and lighten hair
- Station clean-up tasks
- Welcome and engage with customers and carry out consultations
- Answer phones, schedule appointments, and provide assistance as necessary
- Handle transactions, including sales, refunds, etc.
- Assist with cross-selling services and products when appropriate
- Set up for next day
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- Hair Professional Apprenticeship Level 2
- Functional Skills level 2 in English and maths - if required
- One day a week for practical and theory in Langley College
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
- Higher level apprenticeship
- Permanent employment
