A fantastic opportunity for a 3-year Apprenticeship Programme with Jungheinrich UK Ltd. You will be working towards your Level 2 and Level 3 Apprenticeship framework qualification in Lift Truck Maintenance and Repair.


On successful completion of the apprenticeship programme you will be able to:

  • Carry out diagnostics on various types of material handling equipment
  • Carry out servicing and repairs
  • Manage and control van stock
  • Be flexible in working hours to suit customer needs
  • Support and liaise with customer service/ aftersales department

During the programme we expect you to:

  • Participate fully within the training programme
  • Own your own development and demonstrate this through maintaining your logbooks and college work
  • Develop a full understanding of Jungheinrich’s structure and business functions
  • Attend relevant courses in order to develop in your engineering role
  • We would expect applicants to hold a full driving licence to travel between sites

Future Prospects

You will go on to a Level 3 Apprenticeship.

We look to offer all our Apprentices displaying the right aptitude and behaviours a full role after their Apprenticeship scheme. There is an array of career opportunities to progress within the company post apprenticeship and beyond.

Reality Check

We would expect applicants to hold a full driving licence. (An engineering role within a team/ patch of engineers, servicing and maintaining forklift trucks. The role is at a fixed customer site a lot of the time, this customer site can change, depending on where the business is and what new customers choose Jungheinrich products. Therefore, our engineers need to be able to drive to be flexible to those customers and changes and flexibility of our workforce and within the patch/ team they work)

At all times you will be expected to wear the appropriate supplied uniform and ensure that you comply 100% with Health and Safety at all times.

All offers of employment will be conditional subject to proof of achievement of GCSE’s and proof of right to work in the UK.

A reasonable amount of travelling to and from the college is required and Apprentices for the five blocks of two weeks each year.
Apprentices will be required to change their place of work from time to time but still within their postcode/ patch. Apprentices will be supported by Jungheinrich Mentors and their Line Manager and will be trained in all aspects of material handling equipment maintenance.

This Apprenticeship is being offered with a possible start date of September 2020.

Working Hours:

Apprentices are required to be as flexible as possible to meet the needs of the business, but the contract is for 40 hours

Travel Link:

You will need to consider how long it may take you to travel to and from work, training and college, if you do not have your own transport. Jungheinrich will support with reasonable expensed for any apprentice or business-related travel.

Qualifications Required

  • Must have GCSE grade 4 – 9 / A* – C (or equivalent) in Maths
  • Must have GCSE grade 4 – 9 / A* – C (or equivalent) in English
  • Must have GCSE grade 4 – 9 / A* – C (or equivalent) in one other subject

Training Provided

The Apprenticeship will consist of the following:

Intermediate Apprenticeship (Year 1 & 2)

  • IMIAL Level 2 Diploma in Lift Truck Maintenance & Repair (Competence)
  • IMIAL Level 2 Diploma in Lift Truck Maintenance & Repair Principles (Knowledge – required to attend College for 10 weeks each year over a block programme)
  • Functional Skill in maths Level 1
  • Functional Skill in English Level 1
  • Functional Skill in ICT Level 1
  • Award in Knowledge of Employee Rights and Responsibilities for the Automotive Sector

Qualifications are nationally recognised and awarded by IMI (Institute of Motor Industry).

There will be a requirement to attend the North Warwickshire and Hinckley College’s Harrowbrook Campus in Hinckley for your block release programme for completion of your Technical Certificate (Knowledge based units) and any Functional Skills (where appropriate).  Accommodation will be provided for you whilst you are attending college.

Assessments and observations will be carried out during agreed times in the workplace with your allocated work-based assessor. A review of your progress will be carried out while you are on programme to ensure you are meeting set targets.

On the job training will be provided by the employer in addition to the Apprenticeship framework
