Responsibilities
What will the apprentice be doing?
Broad exposure to different areas of food manufacturing including:
Understanding and application of safety/quality procedures
Completing running checks, fault-finding and fulfilling basic maintenance working with the team and engineers
Maintaining good housekeeping
Ensuring the successful running of the production to meet targets, updating boards and completing handover documents as well as putting ideas forward for improvement
Working as part of a team to achieve maximum efficiencies
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Studying towards Level 3 Food and Drink Technical Operator Apprenticeship Standard which includes the Diploma in Food & Drink Operations, a Level 2 Certificate in Engineering, as well as supporting training and qualifications to enable you to carry out the role of Technical Operator for Premier Foods. All learning is work-based with the training provider delivering training and assessment on site.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
It is envisaged that the candidates could carry on to roles as permanent Technical Operators on shift with us depending on successful completion of the apprenticeship and other relevant performance indicators
Reality Check
This is a busy working environment where using a wide range of skills is essential. The role is based in a factory where hygiene and food standards are of paramount importance. There is a requirement to operate machinery and understand basic mechanics. Must be able to work within a small team.Skills Required
