Job Description

Press Start Ltd are a MSP (Managed Service Provider) based in Barton Mills, approximately 15 minutes from both Bury St Edmunds and Newmarket. We are a team of 11, that offer Managed IT Support and Services to our Client base in and around East Anglia. There is an opportunity for a finance apprentice to join their team.

Responsibilities

The Apprentice Finance Assistant is responsible for procurement and recordkeeping, assisting and supporting customer invoicing and financial agreements. You will provide general day to day clerical and full administrative support to staff in a small office environment. This role plays a vital part in the administration and smooth-running of the business.

Basic Responsibilities:

  • Manage Reception and answer incoming calls
  • Process and manage Order Processing including creation of purchase orders on the computer system, obtain product pricing and availability, allocation of stock, place orders with suppliers, overseeing outstanding purchase orders and receiving purchase deliveries
  • Managing all stock and maintaining up-to-date stock records
  • Sending invoices to clients
  • Assist in maintaining financial records of the company
  • Gather information for month end to send to bookkeeper
  • Sign off and approve supplier invoices for client orders
  • Process cheques received from clients and deposit at the local bank
  • Approve employee weekly timesheets
  • Enter supplier invoices to Xero

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain supplies of stationery and kitchen goods including postage stamps
  • Assist with Year End Stock Take
  • Understand processes in ConnectWise by completing assigned training materials and blueprints on the ConnectWise University
  • Assisting with a range of office administrative and ad-hoc finance related tasks as required

  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills

  • Ability to identify work priorities and manage own workload to meet deadlines whilst ensuring that low priority work is kept up to date

Qualities Required

Qualifications Required

Essential qualifications:

  • GCSE or equivalent, in maths and English at grade C/4 or above

Desirable:

  • Full UK driving licence

Training Provided

Level 2 Accounts or Finance Assistant Apprenticeship and functional skills if needed.

Apprentices will be required to take one of the professional qualifications listed below, as chosen by the employer to be most relevant to the job role:

  • AAT Foundation certificate in accounting (Level 2)
  • ACCA Certificate in financial and management accounting (level 2)
  • IAB Level 2 certificate in bookkeeping
  • ICB Level 2 certificate in bookkeeping
