Job Description

We are seeking a hardworking and motivated Apprentice Finance Assistant to join the team in a local legal firm, to support and assist in maintaining a professional, efficient and effective finance team within the firm, carrying out a wide variety of tasks, supporting the internal and external administrative and financial processes.

Responsibilities

What will the apprentice be doing?

We have a great opportunity for a person who is confident with numbers and has a passion for delivering excellent customer service to undertake a L2 Accounts or Finance Apprenticeship within the accounts team of a friendly legal firm that has a well- established presence throughout the county of Suffolk.

The right candidate will work within the finance team and assist in the provision of an effective accounts service to clients, members and staff.

Duties will include:

  • Recording and processing cheque payments and receipts, credit card receipts and electronic transactions
  • Checking and processing bills
  • Bank statement reconciliations
  • Assisting with the operation of the purchase ledger
  • Reconciling Accounts
  • Assisting in the operation of the firms credit control system
  • Participate in the rota for daily banking
  • Maintaining petty cash and posting expenses
  • Responding to queries (in person, over the telephone and email).
  • Assisting the accounts team with other general administrative duties

This role will provide career progression and the opportunity to develop into a key member of the finance team.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The apprentice will work towards a Level 2 Accounts of Finance Assistant standard and will be given the chance to study for a Level 2 AAT Certificate in Accounting qualification alongside their apprenticeship training. 

Alongside training on-the-job, formal training will be delivered by means of regular online sessions. 

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Whilst studying towards the Level 2 qualification, the apprentice will be able to, simultaneously, study towards their AAT qualifications.

On successful completion of the apprenticeship, there will be scope to progress onto higher levels of qualification and full-time employment.

Reality Check

The apprentice will need a good grasp of IT and Microsoft packages. They will also need to have good customer service skills, a good degree of confidence and commitment to the Apprenticeship.
