Job Description

During this apprenticeship, we offer the opportunity to develop skills and capabilities as an equestrian groom, with particular focus on dressage and eventing. If you have a strong desire to work with horses, then this vacancy could be for you!


What will the apprentice be doing?

The horses welfare is absolutely paramount at Eastwell Equestrian so our successful candidate must have this at the forefront of everything they do. In response to this we offer excellent training on site and opportunities to develop skills and knowledge in an encouraging, fun environment.

We need an enthusiastic, hardworking individual, who is able to work both within a team and alone and as of the work will be working alone, so self-motivated is defiantly an attribute we require.

We need a person who can be a representative of Eastwell Equestrian, when clients are on the yard and when traveling away from home at competitions. We have many top-level competition horses on the yard and we need someone who is committed to making sure they are in the best of health.

All general yards duties including;

  • Mucking out
  • Turning out/bringing in
  • Tacking up and tack cleaning
  • Feeding and filling hay nets
  • Clipping/pulling/plaiting/trimming
  • Bathing and rug changing
  • Schooling and riding for the right candidate
  • First aid
  • Exercising horses (lunging, horse walker, long reining, pessoa training, riding etc.)
  • Holding for vet/farrier/dentist
  • Preparing and attending competitions

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
  • The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship.
  • The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
  • The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • To be able to move on to other roles with qualifications and experience.
  • Possible job opportunities.
