Job Description

Tweseldown Racecourse are looking for an apprentice to join their fun and knowledgeable team! The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and willing to learn. They are a small team, but have big ambitions. They are looking for candidates who really want to be part of a team and come on an exciting journey with them!

Responsibilities

Tweseldown Racecourse also run an Aqua Treadmill at Tweseldown for horse rehab and fitness. The successful applicant will assist with putting horses on the treadmill and will receive full training on this. There is also opportunity to learn how they run BE and unaffiliated Horse Trials at Tweseldown.

Use of facilities available in applicant’s own time.

An exciting opportunity for someone who wants to work for and learn from a diverse equestrian business. Tweseldown Racecourse have a small team of event horses (between 3-5).

All duties to include:

  • Mucking out
  • Turning out/bringing in
  • Tack cleaning
  • Tacking up
  • Feeding
  • Clipping/pulling/plaiting/trimming
  • Bathing
  • Rug changing
  • Riding (depending on ability)
  • First aid
  • Hand walking
  • Holding for vet/farrier/dentist

Future Prospects

Possibility to progress onto L3 on completion

Skills Required

Experience with horses is an advantage

Qualities Required

You need to be enthusiastic and willing to learn new skills and work well in a team

Qualifications Required

Ability to complete L1/L2 Functional skills

Training Provided

Full Equine Groom apprenticeship training provided through Haddon Training
