Responsibilities
What will the apprentice be doing?
- Learning how to build a range of mechanical and electro-mechanical components and sub-assemblies.
- Shadowing skilled trades persons at every stage of the manufacturing build, working to a programme of development towards standalone working.
- Gaining knowledge on a variety of product lines.
- Supplemented by one day per week day release college study.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- Level 3 Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard - Machinist Technician
- Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
- Level 2 Diploma in Machining (Foundation Knowledge)
- Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Machining (Development Knowledge)
- Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering (Development Competence) – Machinist Technician
- Training will be provided by City College, Norwich on a one day per week, day release basis.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
- Fully qualified engineering technician.
- Opportunity for in-house progression.
- Potential for world-wide travel.
