Job Description

MSI-Defence Systems (MSI-DS) designs and manufactures a range of products from leading edge weapon systems through to underwater systems with over 125 years experience. Exciting apprenticeship opportunities are now available within our manufacturing operations department with extensive training provided across all engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Learning how to build a range of mechanical and electro-mechanical components and sub-assemblies.
  • Shadowing skilled trades persons at every stage of the manufacturing build, working to a programme of development towards standalone working.
  • Gaining knowledge on a variety of product lines.
  • Supplemented by one day per week day release college study. 

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Level 3 Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard - Machinist Technician
  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
  • Level 2 Diploma in Machining (Foundation Knowledge)
  • Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Machining (Development Knowledge)
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering (Development Competence) – Machinist Technician
  • Training will be provided by City College, Norwich on a one day per week, day release basis.
