Responsibilities

       The successful candidate will be working with a small team of engineers on a wide range of business activities relating to printed circuit manufacture and similar industries

  • You will be based at Viking’s premises in Petersfield, Hampshire and may be required to travel to service customers and visit suppliers in the UK, across Europe and the rest of the world
  • You will be involved in a wide range of activities including installation and support of a variety of customer machinery including manual machining, chemical processing and electronic test equipment.

The successful candidate would need to be prepared to travel by car or train, sometimes for long distances to customer premises

  • Apprentices may be required to work away from home at one of Viking’s customers and would therefore need to stay overnight in hotels
  • Due to the nature of the business, a driving licence and passport will be required to fulfil this position

There will be opportunities to be involved in all aspects of the business which can include:

  • Helping customers to specify equipment for purchase
  • Negotiation with suppliers
  • Machine installation
  • Machine servicing
  • Customer support
  • Workshop activities and machine design and assembly

The successful candidate will be highly motivated and interested in developing a very wide range of electro-mechanical skills.

Skills Required

Desired skills:

  • Basic knowledge of PCB manufacturing, together with electrical and mechanical engineering/maintenance experience
  • Preferably work experience with companies in this field
  •  A person who has a genuine interest in PCB's and is a quick learner

Qualities Required

Personal qualities:

  • A person who has a quick, logical mind and not afraid to speak up with ideas they have
  • A dedicated and hard worker at all times
  • Results driven, possessing determination to see the job through to completion

Qualifications Required

Qualifications required:

  • 5 GCSE's grade C (4) or above including maths, English & science (physics & chemistry preferably)

 

Training Provided

  • Consumer Electrical and Electronic Products Level 3 Framework

Training in the work place and on customer premises.  The training provider, HIghbury College, will offer one day at college to learn theory and project work.
