What will the apprentice be doing?
As you progress through your Apprenticeship you will support the Engineering team in:
- Maintaining and continually improve housekeeping standards in engineering workshops, and when conducting tasks around the site.
- Development and execution of a planned preventative maintenance plan
- Carry out reactive repair and improvement of selected equipment
- Understand how and where to source spare parts and service contracts, balancing production, while reducing costs.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Level 3 Engineering Technician
Training will include:
Learn to understand and interpret engineering drawings
To develop the skills to carry out preventative maintenance and carrying out reactive repaire and improvement on equipment from written and verbal instructions and drawings within an assigned trade
To be able to demonstrate skills and processes
Gain practical operational experience through assisting the Engineering Team in many areas.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
At the end of the Apprenticeship, we aim to offer all successful apprentices a position within the organisation.
Reality CheckYou will be expected to balance day-to-day responsibilities within your role, as well as academic work set by the college. You will also be required to travel to and from college and the DS Smith Site throughout the duration of the Apprenticeship.
