What will the apprentice be doing?

Based in our Manchester Superstore as an Apprentice Engineer, you will be an important part of depot operations and a key player in keeping the workshop productive.

As an Apprentice Engineer at Speedy, you will take part in our structured four year training programme learning technical and soft skills including:

-How equipment works and what it is used for

-Service and repair of our equipment

-Testing of equipment

-How to set up new equipment ready for hire

-Team working

-Problem solving

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Year 1/2: Completion of Level 2 Land Based Service Engineer apprenticeship standard and associated End Point Assessment (EPA)

Year 3/4: Completion of Level 3 Land Based Service Engineering Technician apprenticeship standard and associated End Point Assessment (EPA)

When you are not in College completing your formal qualifications above, you will be based in Manchester full time learning from our experienced engineers and consolidating your skills ready to be signed off as a fully qualified engineer at the end of Year 4.

Reality Check

We would like candidates to be driven and willing to learn and develop. You must be comfortable attending block learning placements at other sites in the country and learning both on the job and in a classroom/practical learning environment. Being interested in machinery, mechanics and electrics and comfortable working at height are essential.
