Job Description

Briggs Equipment UK Ltd have an opportunity for an Apprentice Engineer to join them, to work alongside a mentor to carry out maintenance, servicing & repair of material handling equipment.

Responsibilities

As an Apprentice Engineer you will be responsible for:

  • Working alongside an Engineering Mentor to carry out maintenance, servicing and repair of Material Handling Equipment
  • Completing all training related documents and assignments on time and to the required standard
  • Providing info of specific jobs required to fulfil your qualification to your mentor/ manager
  • Ensuring successful completion of your apprenticeship by meeting performance targets
  • Keeping up to date records of daily activities in the form of a diary
  • Projecting a good image by wearing the Company Uniform at all times whilst on duty including college and training courses
  • Maintaining a positive attitude and thirst to excel in your role
  • Follow all reasonable and lawful instructions including those relating to Health and Safety

As an Apprentice Engineer you will demonstrate:

  • Experience and/or a significant interest in relevant areas of engineering, motor vehicle, construction plant, agricultural etc
  • Mechanical understanding
  • Grade C/ Level 4 or above in English & maths
  • The ability to solve problems
  • An eagerness to learn and develop in an engineering role
  • Excellent timekeeping, punctuality and presentation

As an Apprentice Engineer you will command:

  • A base salary of up to £12,000 rising annually upon successful completion of the previous year’s targets

Future Prospects

At the end of this apprenticeship you will become a qualified level 3 Engineer.

Training Provided

LIFT TRUCK AND POWERED ACCESS ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN Level 3

  • Functional skills for English and maths at Level 2 (unless exemptions from GCSE or other qualifications)

The off the job training will take place at F-TEC Training centre in Swindon and this will be on a block release basis, as an apprentice you will travel on a Sunday evening and return on the Friday afternoon. This will be 5 weeks per year. Whilst you are staying away from home, you will not have to pay for anything. As you’ll have your own room with dinner, bed and breakfast included paid for at a 3-star hotel, that has a gym and pool. F-TEC will provide a lunch while with them.
