The Bulk Liquid Terminal Apprenticeship Program has been designed to develop your expertise across a breadth of operational and technical areas of the business. Your plant-based training program is supported by a nationally recognised apprentice standard (Level 3 Diploma Qualification for a Bulk Storage Operator Technician). We support the apprentice standard with all the relevant technical certificates to enable our apprentices to develop their skills in all aspects of Terminal Operations. You will not only gain valuable skills and knowledge around Terminal Operations, but you will also learn all aspects about working within a COMAH Bulk Liquid Operational Site.
In the area of Process Safety, you will gain valuable insights into all aspects of Process Safety study techniques, COMAH requirements, Human Factors and Functional Safety. We provide a positive environment together with a strong safety and team working culture. The programme is delivered in conjunction with Reynolds Training Services and DN Colleges Group.
Here are some of the tasks that the successful candidates will be doing:
- Routine operation of fuel storage plant and equipment, including cleaning, painting and lubricating
- Routine operation of pumping systems
- System configuration
- Operation of Oil Water separators
- Operate as part of the team for the receipt/ issue of Petroleum Products to authorised customers
- Rigging and assist with testing of fuelling hoses
- Slinging operations
- Manual tank dipping
- Product sampling
- Fuel measurement before, during and after issues, receipts and returns
- Operation of a range of machinery and pumps used in the storage and fuelling operations
Whilst this vacancy is for an Apprentice Depot Operator at our Thanckes OFD, we offer opportunities for individuals to develop their careers across other aspects of the OPA business (Operation Managers, Depot Manager, Fuel Supervisors, Mechanical Technician, Process Safety Engineer etc.).
You must be able to travel to and from work. Travel to and from college is all pre-booked and paid, this isn’t something you need to consider.

We are looking for Candidates who are hardworking, reliable, trustworthy and keen to learn and develop themselves within the Bulk Liquid Storage Industry.
You must have minimum qualifications of National 4/Intermediate1/Credit Standard Grade in maths, English and / or a Science (equivalent or higher qualifications accepted).
- Science manufacturing technician Level 3 Apprenticeship
The first year (approximately 30 weeks) will be based at the Depot and HCF Catch Training Facility in Immingham. The first year will be structured around a term time framework with the successful candidate required to attend the HCF Catch Training Facility over a number of weeks.
The remaining 18-months is primarily based at the OFD Gosport under a mentorship programme with the successful candidate spending allocated weeks during each month back at the Catch Training Facility in Immingham.
