Responsibilities

Reporting to the Lead Dental Nurse.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • To complete all activities as set by the training provider
  • To complete full in-house induction and training
  • To assist clinician in the maintenance of accurate written and computerised dental records
  • To listen and observe at all times and chaperone the dentist in surgery
  • To verbally communicate clearly, professionally, and politely with patients, clinicians, laboratories, and other colleagues. To give feedback if problems arise and if required, using appropriate tact and offer constructive suggestions for improvements within own area of expertise
  • To ensure the clinical workspace is a safe environment to carry our clinical procedures. Keep the clinical areas and all equipment and instruments clean, tidy, and sterilised as appropriate according to the practice's health and safety and infection control procedures and manufacturers' instructions
  • Be familiar and comply with all policies, including HTM 01-05, GDPR and health and safety
  • To provide chair-side assistance to dentist or hygiene therapist
  • To monitor patients throughout their patient journey, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout
  • To complete the daily tasks and other daily and periodic tasks as requested by the lead dental nurse
  • To ensure the surgery is stocked, monitor, anticipate and report stock levels
  • At all times maintain an efficient and economical approach in regard to the cost of resources
  • To understand reception duties and guidelines
  • To cover reception as required
  • Act in accordance with the practice rules and code of conduct
  • To fully participate in all meetings
  • To complete any other tasks as requested by the Management Team

Qualifications Required

Level 3 Dental Nurse apprenticeship standard, which includes:

  • Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
  • End-Point Assessment (EPA)
