• Support the development of RTM (resin transfer moulding), PREFORMING (forming of advanced carbon fibre textile materials), FINISHING (robotic de-flashing, post-curing, robotic trim & drill work cells, measurement and validation, 5 axis CNC machining, and others) processing technology for carbon composites components.

Responsibilities

  • Produce R&D composites components or samples as required for the purpose of the development programme utilising the available facilities and equipment
  • Identify opportunities and ideas to reduce cost and improve quality and productivity of the manufacturing processes that are being developed
  • Provide DFM (Design For Manufacturing) input to the Design and Engineering teams to make sure the design is optimised in line with the manufacturing processes being developed
  • Provide a proactive contribution to innovation and problem solving
  • Ensure the work area is clean, tidy and orderly at all times in line with brand expectations and maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others

Skills Required

  • A previous background in composites, automotive, automation, robotics, textiles, CNC machining or plastics manufacturing is essential
  • Knowledge of an APQP or similar framework would be valuable
  • Good fabricating skills are required
  • Excellent problem solving abilities
  • Knowledge of basic health and safety standards
  • PC literate

Qualifications Required

  • The chosen candidate must have 5 GCSE's or equivalent at Grade C or above, or grade 4-9 under the new education grade system effective from 2016/2017 or equivalent.  Must include math's and English

The chosen candidate will study towards a Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering (Machining) Apprenticeship
